Basic Spreadsheets for Title Analysis
Training Level: Intermediate
Recommended for analysts with a minimum of THREE years of land administration experience. This manual uses a simple, imaginary Oklahoma gas unit well with Division Order Title Opinion to analyze working interest and production revenue title and prepare the spreadsheets necessary to determine total unit royalty, each working interest owner's net working interest and to calculate their Proportionate Production Interest ("PPI"). The manual discusses two of the most important uses of a title spreadsheet: (1) to satisfy Oklahoma statutory requirements for providing burden information to non-operating partners; and (2) to set up the division of interest correctly to pay owners based on marketing arrangements of the partners in wells/units in all States including Texas. This manual is beneficial to analysts for exploration/production companies as well as analysts for production purchasing companies who offer revenue distribution as an additional service. This manual does not teach Microsoft Excel, however, the Microsoft Excel software program was used to create the spreadsheets used as illustrations in the manual. Checklists, charts and oil and gas land glossary complete this manual as an effective on-the-job reference. A Certificate of Excellence can be issued if the student orders the Final Exam and passes with a grade of 70% or greater. This manual is designed for the analyst with at least FIVE years of experience. It provides discussion of covenants vs. condition provisions always found in any type of contract. Then it discusses in depth the analysis of land owner contracts, leasehold owner contracts, the operating agreement, farmouts, AMI/Joint Venture agreements, communitization agreements, designations of unit/declarations of unit and offshore Gulf of Mexico contracts. The impact of each of these types of agreements on the lease data record and the division of interest also are covered, in addition to discussion of subsequent assignments filed of record to fulfill certain agreements. The manual will assist the reader to acquire the skills to analyze properly each of these types of agreements to extract important data and apply that data to maintain proper lease records, joint interest billing records, or revenue distribution records. WI/NRI Calculations for the Lease Analyst and Division Order Analyst
Training Level: Intermediate to Advanced
This all-new revised and expanded edition begins with Basic WI Calculations related Basic Revenue Interests Calculations, moves to much more difficult Subsequent Operations WI Calculations involving a complex farmout with convertible ORRI assigned to several owners, accompanied by Subsequent Operations Revenue Interest Calculations in which half of the ORRI owners convert APO and the other half elect to retain their ORRI.
